IMI Precision Engineering hosts ground-breaking at new Indian production facility

IMI Precision Engineering recently reached a milestone in its global manufacturing strategy. In Noida, near New Delhi, the company hosted a ground-breaking ceremony to celebrate its INR 200m investment ($3.1 million U.S.) into a state-of-the art facility. The site is designed to increase the company’s production capacity to meet the growing demand for its products in the Indian market.

IMI Precision Engineering is a world-class manufacturer of actuators, air preparation, valves and associated fittings for the Industrial Automation, Commercial Vehicle, Rail, Life Science, Energy, and Food & Beverage sectors. Over two years, the company will increase product lines by more than 200, and over five years it will increase the number of technical, commercial and engineering positions to approximately 150 people.

Three times larger than the company’s existing Noida facility, the new building will cover 67,000 sq-ft and will include production, distribution and a technical center.

Kuldeep Bhan, Managing Director of India said: “This is a landmark event for IMI Precision Engineering in India. It signals our commitment to the Indian market, and is part of our strategy to grow our business in areas that offer significant opportunities. With a global commitment to Lean manufacturing, this greenfield facility will be configured to offer best-in-class operational performance.”

“The new facility in Noida will be our second major facility in the Asia Pacific region and will accelerate our plan to localise production, whilst bringing the quality and reputation of IMI Precision Engineering and its brands. This follows a similar project in Shanghai, where we successfully localised production from facilities in Europe and the Americas,” said Andrew Taylor, Regional Managing Director for Asia Pacific.
