Rexroth launches new drive system, rebrands its Hägglunds line

In conjunction with SME MinExchange 2022, Bosch Rexroth has made two announcements for its Hägglunds line — a new drive concept and a rebranding of the overall line.

Hägglunds new Fusion drive systems bring a new definition of compact to the already space-saving Hägglunds drive concept. An entire hydraulic direct drive system can now be mounted on the torque arm, making Hägglunds advantages even more attractive for wide range of applications.

For the first time, customers in mining, materials handling and other industries have a plug and play answer to drive system needs. A Hägglunds Fusion drive system puts everything on the torque arm, from the hydraulic motor and pumps to the cabinet that houses them. That makes high torque and total reliability available from a single unit — in a footprint that was previously unthinkable.

“Hägglunds Fusion brings everything together on the torque arm,” says Wolfram Ulrich, Vice President of Sales for Hägglunds products and solutions. “Not only is there no gearbox or foundation, there are no alignments or even hydraulic pipes or hoses to consider. A Hägglunds Fusion drive system is as compact it gets.”

Multiple Hägglunds direct drive systems were on display at SME MinExchange, offering solutions for key mining applications needing high torque and long-lasting, rugged performance.

For owners of equipment in lower power ranges, such as apron feeders, belt feeders, belt conveyors and infeed conveyors, the Hägglunds Fusion benefits are especially clear. Streamlined installation means easier access to Hägglunds strengths, which save money over time compared to electromechanical drives.

“These applications have much to gain from a Hägglunds hydraulic solution, due to their many starts, stops and reversals,” said Ulrich. “Choosing Hägglunds gives them maximum torque from zero speed and built-in protection from torque peaks, which ensures high productivity and low cost of ownership. Now we add easier installation to the mix.”
Ulrich concludes: “Hägglunds Fusion is compact and dependable power, fused with plug-and-play simplicity.”

A brand designed to lead the way
The refreshed and revitalized Hägglunds brand appeared at MINEXCHANGE 2022, the SME Annual Conference & Expo 2022. At the event in Salt Lake City, Utah, on February 27th, visitors got their first look at the new face of Hägglunds.

“Our drives are in constant development, and the new look is also an advance,” said Ulrich. “Customers will find familiar elements in the new design, such as the distinct red color of Hägglunds motors. But the Hägglunds logotype, for example, has become more streamlined and dynamic.”

Added to the logotype is a new element derived from the Hägglunds motor cam ring, the lines of which echo throughout the visuals. Ulrich explained, “Inside and out, a Hägglunds solution works to keep customers moving forward. That sense of motion and innovation will be integral to our communications.”

The update is a matter of clarity as well as appearance. Hägglunds drive solutions are — and will remain — a part of the Rexroth offering. Yet the Hägglunds brand has unique longevity, much like the products themselves. The name Hägglunds has always been present on the hydraulic motors and has always had its place in customers’ hearts and minds.

“Hägglunds solutions have undeniable strengths and a committed team behind them, which is why the brand continues to resonate with customers,” said Tobias Brummer, Head of Brand Management and Brand Communications at Bosch Rexroth. “Positioning the Hägglunds brand more clearly is a win-win, as it affirms those aspects while opening the door to all that Rexroth offers.”

“Hägglunds benefits from being a part of Rexroth,” agreed Ulrich. “The new design makes the brand stronger in its own right, but there’s power in Rexroth’s endorsement and surrounding expertise. Becoming more visible while staying connected to Rexroth is the best of both worlds, for Hägglunds and for customers.”
