Duplomatic announces it is a IO-Link Certified Competence Center

Duplomatic Motion Solutions invests in Industry 4.0, choosing the IO-Link protocol to manage data collection from the field and to digitize the signals of its range of hydraulic valves, such as ON-OFF valves. It has been certified an IO-Link Competence Center, the only company in Italy achieving this result.

Duplomatic MS IO-LinkThe Motion Solutions group designs and manufactures technological solutions for motion control in various sectors. It operates on the market with three brands: Duplomatic Motion Solutions for industrial applications, Hydreco for mobile applications and Continental Hydraulics for North America.

Duplomatic MS has long focused its R&D on the creation of products and solutions for Industry 4.0. From a technological point of view, this strategy is based on the choice of the IO-Link protocol as support for Internet of Things connectivity, to manage operator-machine, machine-machine communications and data collection from the field.

Duplomatic MS was among the pioneers of IO-Link in Italy, thanks to the development of the full communication protocol by the specialist technical team of its Mechatronics Business Unit, with premises in Sulbiate (Monza Brianza, Italy) for the development and production of electronic devices for Industry 4.0 and in Rosta (Turin, Italy) for the development and production of electric actuators.

IO-Link is the point-to-point digital communication protocol that corresponds to the IEC 61131-9 international communication standard. As the world’s first standardized IO technology, it is ideal for global and international projects. It is compatible with most Fieldbus, it is a two-way communication and it can be easily integrated into existing industrial communication networks.

“IO-Link is a communication protocol that is spreading in the world of industrial controls because, without interfering with the process of the system, it is possible to obtain more data from the field, useful for predictive maintenance. The machine designer, in fact, thanks to IO-Link, can remain focused only on automation and manage data for predictive maintenance at a later time and through a totally dedicated external system,” confirmed Paolo Leutenegger, Director of Research & Development at Duplomatic MS.

In 2020 the internal competence standard on the IO-Link protocol and its application areas reached a high level, so Duplomatic MS obtained the certification as IO-Link Competence Center (IOL-CCs), being the only company in Italy to reach such result. The Competence Centers, as certified by the IO-Link Community, are the centers of excellence that offer technical support for the development of IO-Link devices and systems and certification tests. They are dedicated to training courses as well.

The company strategy was clearly defined by Roberto Maddalon, Duplomatic MS CEO: “Due to the globalization of manufacturing, we must increasingly compete at an international level, in markets that are now driven by the Industry 4.0 approach, which also requires a concrete knowledge of communication protocols. For this reason, we were among the first to invest in IO-Link. ”
