Accumulator decal kit simplifies pre-charge and filling record keeping

GPM Controls LLC, the manufacturer of Schrupp bladder accumulators and the US distributor for Roth piston and FOX diaphragm accumulators, has solved the housekeeping problem that plagues many systems with accumulators. A simple decal for recording the intended gas pre-charge and information about the subsequent pre-charge checking and filling, will help provide a more efficient operation and maintenance.

GPM Controls new accumulator decal kitMany accumulator installations do not have a posted pre-charge pressure; and many accumulator pre-charge records consist of pressures and dates written on the side of the accumulator with a paint marker. The Accumulator Recording Kit (ARK) includes the Decal, Sharpie and Lanyard for easy-to-see, on-the-unit record keeping.

“From our experience servicing many systems with accumulators, we’ve found accumulators in the field to be missing vital data for proper servicing,” said Dan Turner, President, GPM Controls. “From this identified need, GPM Controls has created the Accumulator Recording Kit (ARK).”

GPM will send out sample kits to people and industries who use accumulators. In many cases, educating maintenance teams that a routine check of the accumulator gas pressure is a best practice, and may be enough to help their machinery run at maximum efficiency.  Too many plants only check gas pressure when a critical problem arises, though the machine may have been operating at below maximum performance for months, said Turner.

“We hope that this product will encourage better accumulator inspection and pressure-check documentation, as well as providing a space to have the factory recommended pre-charge pressure clearly posted on the decal,” Turner said.
