CONEXPO-CON/AGG discontinues relationship with IFPE moving forward

By Mary Gannon | August 22, 2023

In shocking news, The National Fluid Power Association announced that AEM, which produces CONEXPO-CON/AGG, has discontinued its partnership with IFPE for its co-location of the 2026 event.

In an email to members, NFPA CEO Eric Lanke wrote the following:

Beginning in 2002, our IFPE trade show has been successfully co-located every three years with AEM’s CONEXPO-CON/AGG. Through the dedicated support of many NFPA and AEM members, leaders, and staff, this co-location has provided significant growth and influence for IFPE, in part because of the collaboration the co-location offers to the fluid power suppliers that exhibit there and the OEM customers that exhibit in and attend CONEXPO-CON/AGG.

Unfortunately, citing factors that include the ongoing construction at the Las Vegas Convention Center, CONEXPO-CON/AGG space considerations, and the overall growth of the construction industry, AEM has decided to discontinue the co-location agreement between CONEXPO-CON/AGG and IFPE. This means that there will not be an IFPE trade show co-located with CONEXPO-CON/AGG in March 2026.

NFPA is working productively with AEM to ensure that NFPA member companies with products eligible for exhibition will be welcomed into a new and well-promoted components section of CONEXPO-CON/AGG 2026. Both organizations recognize the significant role that fluid power technology plays in mobile equipment, and we value the relationships that the co-located shows have provided to NFPA and AEM members alike. Exhibit space sales for CONEXPO-CON/AGG 2026 will open in mid-2024, and prior to that time you will receive more details regarding the transitioning of IFPE priority points and the space application process.

NFPA remains committed to our strategic priorities of building an effective forum for our members and their OEM customers and of promoting fluid power technology to that and many other audiences. All our other programs dedicated to these objectives – including our Annual Conferences, Quarterly Technology Conferences, Technology Task Forces, and fluid power-promotional events at customer market trade shows – will continue through the upcoming CONEXPO-CON/AGG show cycle. We are also investigating new programs that will help you better achieve your own objectives in this space. We will be making announcements regarding those programs, including possible future IFPE trade shows, when those details have been confirmed.

This is truly a huge blow for the industry and NFPA members who have supported the co-located IFPE and CONEXPO-CON/AGG shows over the 20-plus years. Lanke said that the NFPA is currently looking at options to continue the show otherwise, but had no further comments.
