Comer Industries to introduce new green-tech business unit at IFPE

Comer Industries will be exhibiting IFPE South Hall / S-82029) at the 2023 IFPE ConExpo, March 14–18.  Comer Industries and its brand portfolio – Comer Industries, e-comer, Walterscheid, Walterscheid Services, Mechanics Driveshafts, Rockford Clutch — ensure expertise, innovative solutions, and customer-oriented services worldwide. With e-comer, the new green-tech business unit, Comer Industries intends to focus its growth and innovation path in the electric vehicle motor and transmission sector by enriching the range of products offered to the market.

For the event, Comer Industries will display a selection of the latest solutions for compact equipment, mining, and excavators and with the creation  of the new brand e-comer also electric drivetrain solutions for a wide variety of electric compact and medium sized vehicles. Comer Industries can now present itself to the market not only as simple components supplier, but as systems provider and integrator, either for the conventional equipment and for new alternative power solutions.

The footlight stage at this ConExpo 2023 is the premiere of the concept design, e-comer branded, of the fully new electric two-speed 539-e transmission coupled with the SMAC Serie 270 liquid cooled electric motor, the perfect example of the synergy and co-design between the different
business cores of Comer Industries. This new latest generation of synchronized transmission is designed upfront to be combined with high voltage electric motor technology and with power up to 100kW equivalent engine power, aiming to maintain the same improved shifting timing and very smooth shifting behavior without stopping.

The new e-comer division presents also the TX2 Serie transaxles with differential lock, specifically designed for compact electric vehicles, like mini dumper: it achieves high efficiency and guarantees a high level of silence and coming already either with AMAC Serie AC induction or SMAC Serie
synchronous IPM motors. Other main features are the safety electromagnetic negative brakes which guarantee fast response time and waterproof allowing the TX Serie to work in any harsh environments.

The WD series, with the WD220 Serie and WD300T Serie on exhibit, is an all-in-one integrated electric wheel drive designed for compact off-highway equipment, consisting of a planetary gearbox combined with an innovative interior permanent magnet motor of the SMAC series, able to deliver high torque and meet the long-life performance machine expectations.

It’s the perfect electric, waterproof and interchangeable alternative to hydraulic powered gearboxes, used in conventional and traditional fuel driven equipment currently present in the market.

Another great example of the synergy between new e-comer division and the traditional Comer Industries is represented by the new PG 1500 EXe: strong of its long-time supplier of high-quality slew drives, this gearbox enhances the existing product range with this tailored fit and specifically
designed for 20-ton Excavators segment, the highest selling volumes for this application. This new two-stage planetary, 20% lighter than the previous model, can now be supplied as a complete package with the SMAC Serie synchronous permanent magnet electric motors series intercepting the current electrification trend occurring in the excavator market.

For the same application but moving up to the large crawler excavator segment, Comer Industries is presenting the new PGR 11000 EXM, equipped with state of the art and Japanese technology plug-in hydraulic motor: tailored fit for the 50-ton size, the same units extend its usage and can fulfill machine specification up to 65 ton.

For the mining market the 17C is the newest cardan joint size extending the portfolio of already well proven and renown Mechanics Driveshaft brand, bridging the gap between the 15.5C and 20C heavy-duty sizes. It can transmit up to 120 kNm of torque, +33% more torque capacity than the smaller model, and accommodate 25° intermittent articulation, with reduced maintenance time for repairs and extended service life for extreme and tough operating conditions.

17C serves primarily propeller shaft on mining applications, like Rigid Dump Truck and large wheel loaders, but can be also used as main or auxiliary drive on large industrial machines.

For the same mining application coupled to the main engine propeller, the Rockford Clutch brand is represented by the biggest of its series, the S370 Fan Clutch, which helps lower fuel consumption and fan noise while meeting the cooling demands of the toughest off-highway applications. These high-performances and variable speed Rockford fan clutches, designed and manufactured for the toughest and harshest environment, guarantees faster warm up and improved productivity also in starting cooling conditions.

Demanding applications, such as self-propelled construction equipment, like wheeled and telescopic loaders, forestry machines or municipal vehicles, not only need to generate high tractive forces, but also need to be capable of covering long distances at the highest possible speed. ICVD transmission, Walterscheid compact and robust integrated hydrostatic drive unit, guarantees stepless acceleration up to 40km/h with super operator comfort, and with its two available versions, both with conversion range of 8:1, allows OEMs to have the maximum flexibility arrangement of vehicle drivetrain components, to maximize the overall efficiency.
