Hydraulic unibody (HUB) rotary actuator for injection equipment

Parker-Hannifin-hydraulic-unibody-HUBParker Hannifin Corporation today announced that its Pneumatic Division North America has introduced a product designed to address the needs of the oil & gas industry in both onshore and offshore fracking applications. The Hydraulic Unibody (HUB) Series Rotary Actuator provides superior performance in injection equipment used in in the harshest environmental conditions, offering a lighter weight, easier to interface, more economical solution than competitive units.

Built with a hard-coat anodized housing and hardened, high-strength alloy steel pinion and racks, the HUB Series rotary actuator is suitable for applications that are exposed to weather extremes. The rack-and-pinion gear design provides greater durability and life than comparable splined gear designs, provides efficiency characteristics of 90-95% and minimizes hydraulic power unit (HPU) size. The internally plumbed, lightweight design with just two connection ports simplifies and reduces the time required for installation for both injection equipment OEMs and well service companies. Its one-piece housing eliminates leak paths and external connections; fewer plumbing hoses and fittings are required, which reduces labor costs and makes installation easier. The design allows for mounting directly on numerous process valves, reducing the amount of bracketry required and minimizing overall package size, which can be invaluable in areas with limited space available.

Several add-on valve modules also reduce overall integration costs while improving product performance. The crossover vent module allows for flow between both cylinder ports, permitting free rotation of the process valve for greater ease of maintenance. The counter-balance valve module with crossover vent is designed for load holding in both directions, preventing run-away loads and allowing for flow between both cylinder ports. The D03 Solenoid ready module provides a manifold block directly mounted to the actuator for reduced plumbing and enhanced performance. Multiple linear and positional feedback and visual indication options are also available.

Specifications for the HUB Series Actuators include:

Output torques @ 3000 psi (207 Bar): 1800 in-lb to 10,000 in-lb

Maximum operating pressure: 3000 psi (207 Bar)

Operating temperature range: Nitrile seals -40 to 180°F or -40 to 82°C

Standard rotation: 90°

In addition to injection equipment, the HUB Series actuator is suitable for a variety of other markets and applications where 90 degree rotation is desired in a compact actuator:

Automation – mounting, processing, flood gate actuation, end of arm tooling

Mining – mobile longhole drilling, tunnel boring

Mobile – fire truck ladder rotation, aerial lift basket, x-ray boom rotation, forklift handling & storage, refuse tippers

Oil & gas – process valve actuation
