Years ago, in the North American compressed air market, it was a free-for-all when it came to compressor ratings. Some questionable efficiency numbers were published, leading customers to believe that they were making good choices in purchasing the most energy efficient compressors. However, as time went on, it was gradually discovered that some published numbers were questionable — and others were even outright lies!
Compressed air purchasers need not suffer anymore. The Compressed Air & Gas Institute (www.cagi.org) has had a third-party verification program for many years that ensures the numbers their members publish remain accurate and honest. All members of this program are required to freely publish their CAGI data sheets and prove the numbers are accurate through random testing. This helps compressed air users make some great informed choices when it comes to purchasing compressors — especially as energy costs aren’t getting any lower.
If you are interested in this program, I encourage you to view this video.
Lastly, where do you find the compressor data sheets? You can definitely ask your compressor supplier, or go to the list of members located at this handy link.
