Mix and match cup mount flexiblePiab is introducing a flexible mounting system for suction cups that enables users to easily install and configure vacuum technology-based tools and fixtures perfectly tailored for handling, for instance, automotive body parts or plastic details. The company’s Flexible Suction Cup Mount comprises a broad range of interchangeable parts that make up a mix and match mounting system for the careful and exact positioning of any type of suction cups.

Piab’s Flexible Suction Cup Mount offers several different mounting options for industry standard end-of-arm tooling connections, including Universal joint (C-C 44 mm), Profile mount (2 x 8/10.5 mm), Lock-pin (19 mm), and Ball-joint. Rods are available in two sizes 1/4′-in., suitable for use with small suction cups, and 18mm for large cups and heavier applications. Available in lengths from 45 to 200mm, the smooth-surfaced rods are held in place by a clever and user-friendly ball-joint fastening mechanism.

Clamping the rod using compressible rubber stoppers, the ball-shaped fastener also features an optional mechanism for fine adjustments before final fastening with screws secured by captive washers. The fastener also allows the rods to be angled (20-25°) for precise positioning of suction cups, the light-weight rod offering maximum angle adjustment.

A large selection of male and female style fittings for both ends of the rods (top/bottom thread) is available to match specific suction cups. Also included in the Flexible Suction Cup Mount range are fittings designed specifically to enable the smooth rods to be easily detached for further flexibility or maintenance purposes. All fittings come with O-rings, making them 100% vacuum sealed and compatible with energy saving features available for vacuum-based systems.

The flexibility and easy installation offered by Piab’s Flexible Suction Cup Mount makes it the perfect choice for manufacturers wishing to maximize the productivity of manufacturing plants. It is easily adapted for use in existing vacuum systems whether centralized or decentralized, and compliance with industry standards ensures that it will fit in most machines used within the automotive sector.
