Following COVID-19 institutional guidelines and restrictions, the CCEFP Summit scheduled for May 19-21 has been postponed to September 22-24, at the University of Minnesota. The CCEFP Summit — a bi-annual event for fluid power collaborators — connects industry to university resources and talent through technical presentations, networking opportunities, lab and facility tours, and special features.

Additionally, the organization has announced new funding for several new projects. “The CCEFP is committed to grow our research portfolio by engaging industry members and exploring new federal funding opportunities with the broader academic community,” said Professor Zongxuan Sun, Director. “Our collaborative research activity will be a key foundation for future growth. We look forward to engaging our industry members and opening new opportunities for the CCEFP.”

Fluid power researchers from five institutions submitted proposed projects to the February CCEFP Call for Proposals. The CCEFP Industry Engagement Committee (IEC), made up of industry collaborator representatives, reviewed sixteen high quality proposals and recommended the following projects for funding.

  • “Electro-Hydraulic Axial Piston Machine”. Investigator: Prof. Andrea Vacca, Purdue University
  • “Polymer-Enhanced Fluid Effects of the Dynamic Response of Hydraulic Pumps”. Investigator: Paul Michael, Milwaukee School of Engineering and Prof. Ashlie Martini, University of California-Merced
  • “Electrohydraulic System Diagnostics with Recursive Spectral Analysis”. Investigator: Prof. Zongxuan Sun, University of Minnesota
  • “Short-Term Energy Storage System for Hydraulic Hybrid Wind Turbine Transmissions”. Investigator: Prof. Kim Stelson, University of Minnesota

Attendees will learn about these new funded projects and more during the next CCEFP Summit, September 22-24 at the University of Minnesota. Information on the program, registration, and accommodations will be released soon.
