Magnetek has added three new handheld transmitters to its portfolio of wireless controls approved for hazardous locations. They are safe to use in hazardous or potentially explosive locations with gas or vapors, which allows users the flexibility to operate farther away from a potentially dangerous situation than wireless alternatives.

Magnetek RD1115_HazLoc-Radio-Launch-Press-Release-280x284Ideal for material handling applications, such as chemical plants, paint booths, and petrochemical and refining operations, the Flex EX Series and Flex Pro 8- and 12-button radio remote controls are available with ATEX and IECEx approvals for Zone 2 applications. Flex EX and Flex Pro are IP66-rated, fully sealed transmitters to withstand harsh, industrial environments. The Flex Pro transmitter buttons can be configured as proportional, on/off, or a combination of both. Flex EX is available in pre-engineered or engineered configurations.

For mobile hydraulic applications, the Company’s Flex EM Series and Flex Pro 8- and 12-button radio remote controls are suitable for use in applications such as oil and gas, drilling, and petrochemical processing and refining. ATEX and IECEx approved for Zone 2 applications, Flex Pro and Flex EM are IP66-rated and fully sealed to withstand harsh, industrial environments. Flex EM is available in pre-engineered or engineered configurations.

“Our new hazardous locations handheld transmitters offer comfortable control,” said Ben Stoller, Magnetek’s director of radio controls. “Our wireless controls are designed to be ergonomic and lightweight, making them ideal for material handling, overhead crane, and fluid power applications.”

Receivers can also be put into explosion-proof enclosures that meet NEMA 7 or NEMA 9 standards for added safety. Additionally, Magnetek offers bellybox transmitters for use in hazardous locations.
