Operator comfort and ergonomics are significant considerations in mobile machine design. Sure Grip Controls, a Bailey International company, has launched new armrests for heavy equipment that are fully customizable, including cushion materials and colors and integrating various components such as joysticks, LEDs, and push buttons.

Sure Grip Controls introduced new custom armrests for heavy-duty mobile equipment.

Features include:

  • Can be fully sealed up to IP69K
  • Rated for up to 5 million cycles (20 million operations)
  • Can be mounted with adjustable height and side-side-forward-back on the seat or cab floor
  • Technical support for installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting
  • Multiple connection and interface options, including Deutsch connectors, integrated controllers, or custom harnessing

Darren Lockyer, VP at Sure Grip Controls stated that the company’s primary motivation is to address real-world challenges that operators face and help them improve control, safety, and productivity. The company creates other custom control solutions, such as ergonomic joysticks, for mobile equipment across agriculture, construction, forestry, transportation, and MEWP (mobile elevated work platform) applications.

Last year, the company acquired Industrial Electronic Controls (IEC) of Rockford, Illinois, to broaden its product offering. It also opened a new facility in Victoria, British Columbia, at Vancouver Island Technology Park (VITP) to increase manufacturing space, expand production lines, and gain space for new product development and testing. Lockyer said the new location’s technical and communications infrastructure enables expanded testing and development capabilities. Plus, VITP’s LEED Gold Certification helps the company maintain its ISO 14001 certification and Vancouver Island Gold Rating for sustainable business practices.
