Small and light EDA duplex change-over filters for continuous operation

The Filtration Division of Eaton has redesigned its EDA series of duplex pressure filters, which is up to 30% smaller and lighter than its predecessor while maintaining the same high performance level. Available in five different sizes from EDA 106, 256, 406 and 636 to 1006 with flow capacities up to 265 gpm (1000 lpm), the in-line mounted stainless-steel filters have a maximum working pressure of 580 psi (40 bar) and operate from 14 to 212 °F (-10 to 100 °C). In a Siberian application Eaton was even able to modify the EDA filters for temperatures as low as -58 °F (-50 °C).

Fitted with Eaton’s ISO-tested filter elements, high intrinsic stability, excellent filtration capability, high dirt-holding capacity, and long service life are assured. Available as fine as 5 µm, they increase fluid cleanliness and lifetime, reducing replacement, repair, and disposal costs. Visual differential pressure (DP) indicators, SAE-counter flanges, and drain- and bleeder connection are also available.

Ideal for offshore, marine, and steel mill applications, the EDA series filters can operate continuously, maximizing equipment uptime. When a filter element change-out or service is required, the operator can divert the filtration flow from one side to the other. A pressure equalization system assures consistent pressure of the oil or lubricant during the transfer of flow.

“By direct mounting the switchgear to the pressure vessels the new EDA requires less space and is up to 216 lb (98 kg) lighter on the EDA 1006 series,” says Eric Rud, global product manager at Eaton’s Filtration Division. “To expedite element changes the new EDA elements have a threaded endcap. Therefore, a commercially available fastener or a pullout tool can be used to easily remove the spent element. The new EDA filter provides the same reliability and long-lasting performance our customers expect in a new space saving design.”

All units are available with or without a U-stamp and conform to the American Society of Mechanical Engineers certification (ASME) Section VIII standard code for pressure vessels. They also meet the Pressure Equipment Directive 2014/68/EU for mineral oil and the ATEX Directive 2014/34/EU according to the specific application.
